No problem,  It is just a favorite joke the little Flick goes from tougue stuck on flag pole to ... well probably shouldn't finish that joke here.

YB & C-Dub,

I used to listen to Jean Shepherd on the radio just about every night, particularly in the summertime, as I was camped outside my house when I was a young teenager (yes, I lived in a tent outside my NJ home for a year or two... but that's ANOTHER story).  That guy was a helluva good storyteller.  Ralphie's Christmas adventure barely touches the surface of Jean's good stuff.  Someday I'll invest some energies & find some old recordings of his.

He & Seinfeld may have some similarities, but for my money Jean Shepherd has the much richer stuff, IMHO.

Anyhow, for what it's worth, WE'LL BE BABBLING ON ABOUT THESE & OTHER POINTLESS VOYAGEUR STORIES OF INTEREST BETWEEN SIPS AT BUSHWHACKER'S JAMBOREE, NOW LESS THAN 97.5 DAYS/JOURS AWAY!!

PS.  DON'T FORGET THOSE FABULOUS DOOR PRIZES!!

Can some one fill me in on where the pink flamingos came from? Does some one who is planning on being at the jamboree have them in their lawn? Will there be camp sights decorated with them?  Will they be the door prizes?  Roll Eyes Just trying to find out what kind of company we will be with at the jamboree.

Even though I'm new here, I think I got this one figured out:  The Pink Flamingos inhabit the (very very active) imagination of Jimbo.

As for "Jimboree", well, it WILL take place as previously announced... in the chub hole due north of Stumpy's chub hole-in-the-wall.  I'll be passing through that so-called "body of water" to get to his paradise anyway

Ahh, Jimmy me boy (it's almost St. Pats day)...
I don't want to reveal too much, or tell folk how to go but be forwarned about the water of that lake, for it seemed a bit stagnant (like Old Salts rear end, come June 15th).
At the end of a long sweaty bushwhack, I often plunge right into the water. I'm not sure if I'd do that on "Jimbo" lake.
Had that water been better, I'd have picked that as the Rendezvous (me speakum Frog too) location, as you will see a great gathering spot on that lake.
Where as Chub pond, seemed deep and clear, with frolicking otters and pink....

Magic -

Glad to hear you might be attending this gathering of the brethren!  For that matter, I was also glad to learn about Pghportager & the half-dozen suckers - er, bushwhackers - that HE will be conning into this hootenannie, too.

Ok.  HoHo has the pink flamingo thing figured out... almost.

At one point or another on this or that thread, we got to talking about "missing items" around the USA that might mysteriously re-appear up in Stumpy's marshlands.  Numerous such items were mentioned.  I simply observed something about "reports of Pink Flamingos" being stolen from "this neck of the woods".  A notorious instigator/troublemaker - either Old_Salt or YB or someone of similar ilk - THEN came out quoting me & adding some kind of crack like:

"Neck of woods = Jimbo's back yard".

Since then, everybody & his brother has put me on a great safari to retrieve Minnesota's lost Pink Flamingo Flock, allegedly belonging to me & currently roosting somewhere near the Chub Pond.

Anywho, that's a loose derivation of this particular pointless "legend".

The Old_Salt Shrine, to be constructed up on Jimboree Lake, equally pointless, shall honor his holy quest in some simple(minded) manner, not yet disclosed to the general public (probably because I haven't entirely thunk it up yet).

However, now that I AM thinking, I'm thinking Message Cairns & Olive Jars.  [Yeah, that's the ticket!  Message cairn!]

THINK FAMILY-ORIENTED FUN & JAMBOREE (WHICH, BY THE WAY, IS ONLY 97.25 DAYS AWAY)!  COME ONE, COME ALL, OR... SIMPLY SEND ME SOME MESSAGES TO BE TUCKED AWAY IN THE (northern) CHUB POND MESSAGE CAIRN FOR ALL POSTERITY TO SEE!  SAY WHAT YOU WANT ABOUT OLD_SALT OR STUMPY, WE WON'T CARE!

Unlike Stumpy, I cannot claim to be much of an expert re: Old_Salt's posterior.  Despite my ignorance of that fascinating subject, however, I shall persevere re: my approach to Jimboree & Jamboree.

My hordes shall descend upon said Chub Pond from the North!!!  Stumpy, your crowd is welcomed to join us for fried frog legs.

Anybody know any decent recipes for them?

Jimbo, I'll be checking for your post of the picture of your shrine to me - dear old salt!  It's the only way I'll be able to fully appreciate it.

I'm sure it will be something worthy of your imagination and the legends that swirl on the web about my fearless exploits!

Fortunately, I have other plans this year that will keep me in the fish!!  FISH ON!!  FISH ON!!  FISH ON!!  FISH ON!!
FISH ON!! You get the drift! Shocked  Chub seining isn't my thing.

on behalf of the Pghportager gang... there was no conning to get us to go... we'll gladly trodd off into the tick laden muck.

See you there
