No wonder Strother was telling the same jokes EVERY time; apparently I was watching re-runs!  Shocked  Which reminds me, I should point out that there WON'T be any re-run of B.U.G.B.I.T. Rendezvous until 2010, so...

Cheesy  COME ONE, COME ALL... COME ANYBODY!!  SURE, WE'LL BE TELLING THE SAME OLD TIRED JOKES & TALL FISHING TALES - AGAIN & AGAIN & AGAIN - BUT REST ASSURED THAT, IF YOU SHOW UP, CHANCES ARE WE WON'T BE TELLING QUITE AS MANY OF THEM ABOUT YOU!!!   Wink  SO, JUST 62 DAYS OF SPRING UNTIL WE'RE WADING HIP DEEP IN BULL(MOOSE)SHIT & GOOEY PINK EASTER PEEPS AROUND THE OLD CHUB POND!!

And, do remember: "there's NEVER a profit & SELDOM any cents whatsoever at Jimboree."

Jimbo,
This is getting ALMOST as predictable (repetitive) as Stumpy's annual call for the ChiSox to win a pennant. Wink 8)

I'm thinkin the main entertainment will be the rendevous around Stumpy's AM radio as he tunes in another static-filled White Sox game. Don't forget to put in fresh batteries. Grin Grin

Old_Salt,

Speaking of radios, I've actually been thinking about whether or not I will "turn on" my radio at the Chub Pond.  Generally I enjoy listening to the "voice of the great Canadian Northwest" on CBC as I fix the evening meal.  Nowhere else do I ever hear such a unique assortment of odd-duck programming & music with a pure northern flavor.  Also, there's always the remote chance I might learn something about the weather on those rare occasions when the announcer says something other than "sun & cloud expected today".  THAT "forecast" covers all contingencies but it does so without telling the listener much of anything.  Every once in awhile, however, they WILL mention something about a monster blow coming through (after a "period of sun & cloud").  It certainly helped me prepare for some 70mph winds about 3 years ago!

The real issue for me concerns park/backwoods ethics and respect for the other campers.  I WILL have my radio with me AND playing it when I am on the more remote lakes where there are NO other campers about.  However, chances are I won't even turn it on at the Chub Pond... unless I'm comfortable that other B.U.G.B.I.T. members are generally "OK with that".  Many folks go to the woods to get away from radios & such.  Sometimes I am very much one of those folks!

In any case, I don't think I can pick up the Chicago station. It'll be the CBC or nothing... in English, French, & Ojibwe, depending upon the time of day.

Sure you can pick it up Jimbo, they crank up the power at night. Unfortunately, interleague play will be on then and they play Arizona (snore) on the 15th, and are off on the 16th. I would'nt subject anyone to the games anyway, but your radio would'nt bother me Jimbo....unless it's Rap  Shocked .

Now, as for Old Salt !.....Do you know me ???  Roll Eyes

Also, some of you may want to check out the April 15, noon post on the CCBBs (question about Yodeler & Range Line Lakes)....it seems my bushwhacking partner (Rangeline) has made a rare post on the Bulletin Boards.  Smiley

Stumpy,

Some say that you haven't really "heard" rap until you've heard it in Ojibwe.

Which gives me yet ANOTHER great idea for our kilted campfire competitive games... something we'll call: "Voyageur Rap!"

Let me experiment with a few promising Chub Pond stanzas:

"Da bugs was bad,
Dey made me mad,
My boy, he say 'dis party So Sad!'

I grabbed da Deet
to spray ma feet,
now my ankles & toes dose ticks won't eat!

My boy go fishin'
& I fine him wishin'
dat he brought his gig for a frog hunt mission!

Ma tent pad lumpy,
Make me feel so dumpy,
Wants to kill dat boy who be calling himself "Stumpy"!

SO COME ONE, COME ALL!
YOU BE HEARING MY CALL!!
YOU BE JOINING MY SON & HIS B.U.G.B.I.T. PAW!

***********************************

Can anyone out there help me with an Ojibwe translation of this?  We're considering a "live feed" into Canadian radio & "the voice of the Great Northwest".  I can handle the translation into French, myself.

Those Canadians really get into cultural stuff like this....

Wouldn't touch this with a 10 foot paddle shaft.

We are witnessing literary greatness.  BB administrators from around the country are schmoozing our friend Jimbo with offers that make PJ's gear list seem as small potatoes.  Don't do it Jimbo.  First its Red Green, then its Hollywood - those guys never make it back . . .

Da bottom be mud
With other kinds of crud,
But none of dat makes our Rendezvous a dud!

Da fishin' might stink,
Da moose might blink,
But good times will be had by all, I think!

Some biscuits we'll bake,
Some booty we'll shake,
We sure gonna party at Stumpy Lake!!

In 57 days,
We'll find 1000 ways,
To satisfy our urges fo da Jamboree Craze!

SO COME ONE, COME ALL
AND PLEASE DON'T STALL!
CUZ DOSE DOOR PRIZES... WELL, DEY SHO AIN'T SMALL!!!!
