Hmmm....
I don't think I need worry about TOO big of a croud, showing up at the Jamboree...
It seems, a lot more people would rather -sit on a bar stool North of Duluth !   Smiley

Well thats ok Stumpy because you and I both know there will be a few there.  Looks like the BWJ practice run for qp is on for this coming Sept.  I might even have a buddy for it already too.  I'm guessing and hoping that the one this fall it is a little tougher that the one in 2005.
Can't wait Stumpy

Stump:
The dream is great -- but the statistics are not that promising.  The odds of me being able to get the vacation approved at the right time - and it sounds like it might take a two week block - along with getting a permit puts me at about 3 to 1 against even getting started.  Assuming I have about a 50/50 shot of finding the place if I do get to start - I'm at about 6 to 1 against actually showing up.

But - I've always liked going against the odds!!

Hey Goat!

Bah, bah humbug!

If we seniors band together & form our own flotilla, we can be tipping the bottle (of Geritol) & have fish on the griddle when Stumpy & the rest of the youngsters arrive!

Of course, IF they don't arrive, we may have to ask ourselves some troublesome questions...such as: what park is this?, what day is this?, where is the nice lady in the white frock who usually takes care of me?

Come to think of it, you're absolutely right.  This will be pretty much a crap shoot...and I ain't been feelin' real regular lately.

Oh, well.  C'est la vie et vivre la Jamboree!

Two weeks round trip, to go to the BWJ 05 ?.....Nahh !
You should be packing real light....right ?
So, 2 days should get you near the middle of the park.
1 day for the bushwhack...It should take half a day, at most.
2 nights at the Jamboree.
Coming back out should be easier...figure the bushwhack plus a good days traveling part way back...1 day.
1 more day to exit park.
That's just 5 nights !...throw in a couple more layover days, and it's just a 7 night-8 day trip (with 3 layover days).
I think most of you could do this if you TRAVEL LIGHT and EFFICIENTLY.
If you think I'm talking, my travel time...No...I could and might go to the pre-bushwhack lake the first day...and if anyone bet me, I'd go all the way there in a day. That would'nt be fun though, except to say we did it.
I'm leaning towards a Tuesday & Wednesday get together. Then you could leave your entry point on Saturday and come out on Saturday...8 days, 7 nights and 4 of those days just to get there. OR, Sat. to Sun.....9 day trip !
Gotta get those permits you want !.....Me ? I'll be there no matter the permit I'm stuck with.

Who's that I see walking in those woods.
Why it's little Red Riding Hood.
Hey there Little Red Riding Hood.
You sure are looking good.
You're everything that a big bad wolf could want.
AHWOOOOOOO0000000ooooooo !

that's to scare off the fence-sitters Smiley

Drat!  I MAY need to pack boots!  Hmmmm... big fry pan makes the crossing.  Full-length lounge chair (with cup holders) may have to guard Bushwhack entrance.  Ah, the sacrifices!!!

but you know if we start planning this BWJ now we could really lighten the loads.  Say, Stumpy if you and I team up on the camping gear like you bring the fry pan I'll bring a couple jugs.  We might just lighten the load enough to allow this group of the Senior BWJ to jion us in 2005. Wink  Hey by the way PJ and Jimbo you know Nibimocs, Bogwalker and I have a special club now.  GoQ Club
