I should have said...It "is" about Jimbo.

Dear Stumpy:

After all the pre-trip ballyhoo is said & done (& I freely admit manufacturing a "tad bit" of that, myself), and we actually launch our SR17 southward out of Stanton Bay, I intend to embrace your original vision.

We hope to shake a few hands and swap a few stories.

THEN, my son & I will be heading off to our own separate pursuits elsewhere in the Park.

My oldest boy is in college these days & I don't get to see him so much, anymore.  We're taking this on as a joint challenge (for "bragging rights", as db recently suggested to me), hoping to have some fun, and then - much later - be in a position to share a few memories when the paddling & portaging doesn't come so easy to me, anymore.

In that respect, I guess, we're probably much the same as anyone else who actually attempts the Bushwhack.  Heck, I'm already hoping to do it AGAIN in five years time.

Of course, my friend, let's see if I'm still talking THAT way at the end of June '05!

Stumpy, I am most grateful that you have conceived & put this "event" out there.  All of us need "something" to feel energetic about.  I think it's pretty darn neat that so many like-minded folks have picked this same "something" to be excited about, regardless of whether or not they actually attend.  For Pete's Sake, there will be well over 10,000 hits on this thread by the time it is all said & done!!  Can you believe it??

Even if my party never finds Stumpy Pond, you have already given my boy & I that "something-to-get-excited-about" for THIS year.  We ARE having lots of fun with it & look forward to meeting a few other folks feeling much the same way.

I have no expectations of anyone EXCEPT myself for this event.  I seek a feeling of accomplishment as well as some fun for my boy & myself.  In that sense I suppose, the selfish pleasure I/we call "Jamboree" really IS all about me.

Thanks, again...

Stumpers,

At times I think you are high on your self, and perhaps rightly so.  I'm hoping QP knows his head from his Stump, as I havn't done a moments worth of research on reaching your pond.  Personaly I couldn't give a crap.  I think my vacation life has been kidnapped.  If I did not have a seperate trip planned, I wouldn't give this so called honor of meeting you a second thought.

Now that this is off my chest... I'm looking forward to what ever pain you may give me or send my way Stumpers.  Fry Me, Fry Me.. It is after all... the Jimboree.

Praying humbly at your feet Stumps.  See you soon...maybe.

I'm just planning on following the trail of flamingo poop falling from the sky.  Figure once I find that were all good from there finding the Jimboree  that is  Grin

There is a slight chance I should not have been so rude and direct with Sir Stump in my previous post.  Undecided  There is a greater chance that this little get together he has planned intimidates me.  Lips Sealed Yeah... There just may be flamingo poop in my pants, what the hey, that is probably closer to the truth.

Only Stumpy could organize such an insane vacation plan.  Fortunately for me this does prove I'm not the only one around here that is nuts.

We will try Stumpy, no guarantees; I'm no rock climber, but then again soon, maybe.

From "Canoe Country Wilderness" by William N. Rom
page 72

"Old guide and mentor Gus Walske always talked about a superb bass lake along these western reaches of Kawnipi but never dropped any hints as to which lake it was. I found one lake on the map, west of Kawnipi, that was narrow and a mile long that could have been it.
I tried hiking in to this lake, but after several beaver ponds, I decided that it was too far and not worth the bushwhack with a heavy canoe. Thus, Gus Walske's bass hole in the haunts of Kawnipi remains undiscovered."

Would Bill Rom Jr. ever show at this event, if he knew about it ?
