We'll monitor Channel One on the walkie-talkie on Tuesday evening, every hour on the hour.  If we don't see you pre-bushwhack on Wednesday morning, we'll see you on the inside... I hope.

My son is the slender figure in the wide-brimmed, green Costa Rican "Imperial" beer hat.  I'm the wider, taller, gray-whiskered guy in the Filson vest and Columbia River hat.

The gold SR17 will either be under me or over me.

Travel safely.

Jimbo,

I will remember you when I see you. Its been a couple of years since we talked at Copia, but I think I will recognize you.

BTW. We shouldn't need a radio to find you we will just follow the bolts of lightning, FLASH .....LOL... Grin

Will you be towing a solo with your gear in it....that would make you easy to spot from a distance.  Roll Eyes  Wink

Woods,

Let's hope we have better luck THIS time than I had on that first trip, 15 years ago.  Towing solo canoes packed with gear, dodging lightning bolts, and fending off marauding parties of Fishers attacking our campsite was a bit much for one trip!  One of these days I'll get around to posting the written account to the QJ "Stories" board.  If nothing else, our 1st trip experience would offer encouragement to other Park newbies.  They would have to try REAL hard to mess up as much as I did!

We screwed up, we survived, & we keep coming back.

Hey, Woods, let's hope we "bushwhackers" can say as much AFTER the Jamboree....

Later (I hope),

Yeah, I hear you buddy...... might need the waders for these campfire stories.....it might get deep!!

I just hope nobody gets hurt, that would really put a damper on our trip....so everyone be carefull out there.

BTW....Does B.U.G.B.I.T. stand for anything?

WW,

Go all the way back to Post #1 this thread:  "Better understanding going bushwhacking is torture".

FYI, from one masochist to another....

I don't know how much more I'll be posting before departure. My computer is acting up.

WW, Why don't you stand in front of the Ely web cam at 8:00 PM thursday, so I can see if I should pack that extra steak ?....Your basic "Charles Atlas" pose will do.  Wink

HEy Guys.
I HEAR THE BUGS ARE REAL BAD......black flies, and skeeters.
Like I said...."when bugs are bad, and voyageurs too"

Head nets ?

Ok Folks,

Be careful,

Let someone know your exact intended (and alternate) route.

Thank you ALL for helping to pull this thing together.

Woods, we gotta FIND the pink you-know-what's first.

Stumpy, what is your best advice regarding hoisting oneself out of quick sand?  I understand from QP that HIS intended bushwhack route features THAT sort of thing.  Any words to the wise (other than "wait for the 2010 Jamboree")?  Presently, all I know to do is to offer QP some kindly words of encouragement from afar over the walkie-talkie as he is going down.

I figure Woods will get through OK using that route.  If HE gets into such a predicament, I expect he will just stand on Kawishiway's shoulders....

Later (maybe MUCH later),

Well, the Talk has about stopped & the Time has come to head off into the woods & onto the portage trail less travelled.

On 2nd thought, that would be "the portage trail NEVER travelled."

This has been a truly Fun Thread.  If all our Tall Tales turn out to be safe ones, this thread will finish that way.

Me, my son, & those Fabulous Door Prizes head north tomorrow.

Paddle on!!!
