we take the precooked and sealed microwavable bacon from the supermarket.  Stores at room temp, is sealed and last a good long time.  It is thiner so plan on more strips per person.

Save it for frying eggs, fish, or potatoes.  If you're done with it or just want to get rid of it burn it.  It really is a great fire starter!
