My first trip, in 1985, there were 3 one-time holders of the Boy Scout's First Aid merit badge. A companion scraped his shin pretty badly and had to endure the 3 of us ministering to his wound. In Ely, a doctor said he could not have done better.

But lots has changed since 1954, when I got my First Aid merit badge. A book I keep handy for review is "NOLS Wilderness First Aid." NOLS is the National Outdoor Leadership School.

This is a 300 plus pages volume. Won't make you an MD or even a EMS. But it provides brief discussion of possible needs for first aid and what to do about those needs. Good book, though I'm sure others exist as well. Everybody needs to review first aid problems and techniques -- often. End of soap box.

You never can be to prepared for emergencies!!!
The 3 climbers and dog that just made it off Mt.Hood can attest to that Grin Grin
THEY did everything right compared to the previous group who should of known better but let there experience get them in trouble Sad Sad

Here's something that I've added to my first aid cit.
Hope I never need it but it could definitely be a life saver Grin Grin
