Just wonder if anyone has tried this. How do you store fresh eggs and other items that might be damaged by freezing?

Natureman,  on my trips were didn't take any fresh food.  The only way I could think would work would be to haul coolers as they would also insulate against cold.  But we pulled our own sleds so that didn't happen.

Coolers, and add a hot water botle every night, and even that won't work when the temps get into the 15 to 20 below range.

Usually the same here.

But I do take a few cameras and other stuff that I like to keep from freezing - usually in both a fanny pack and hung off of my neck - both under my parka. If you don't have a lot of fresh stuff to carry, a few small packs along for the ride under your outerwear may do the trick. In camp they can be stored in extra (!) clothing or in the bag.

I have taken fresh eggs.  Just crack them and mix them up and put them in a freezer bag.  I found that a freezer bag filled so the eggs are about 1/4" thick is very good.  This helps in thawing.
When you go to make the eggs, put them in warm water, do not cook them just thaw them.  Having the eggs thin helps speed the process.  Then cook scrambled eggs as normal.  Sorry, overeasy never worked for us.
Many other foods are not harmed in freezing, it is the thawing out for consumption that is the trick.  Some you can cook from a frozen state and some need to be genetly thawed, then cooked.
Winter camping is great fun if you are prepared for it.

I'm with you fishinbuddy, the container (shell) of the eggs is not very durable anyway.

It requires too much effort to keep food from freezing during winter camping trips, so I just repackage what I want to allow for expansion & let it freeze... thaw it in boiling water when you need it.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I shall try that eggs-in-a-bag method. This winter I hope to do some local sagebrushing (car camping) so bringing a cooler won't be a problem.
Fishinbuddy, how many eggs per bag and what size of bags do you use? Also, I assume you thaw them while still in the bag?

I use the best freezer bags I can find.  I put 3-6 eggs in each bag.  I also learned while in the food service industry that adding some lemon juice to eggs helps reduce bacteria buildup and does not alter the flavor too much.  (it does not take much lemon juice!)

I like quart sized bags they tend to fit into a pot easier.   I do not 'boil' the eggs to thaw, too easy to start them cooking.  I put them in warm water.  If you double bag them then use the coffee water while it heats.  Then when the eggs are done, turn up the heat on the water and make camp coffee.  Then cook your favorite scrambled egg dish.  Served with rashers of bacon and some toast this breakfast will provide energy needed for winter camping.

I really enjoy winter camping, although I have trouble convincing my family to go.  My first trip to BW was in February, I loved the solitude and quietness.
Have fun...
