It's certainly wise to take precautions while canoeing on the water in (aluminum) canoes with graphite rods; or just taking precautions from the storm.  One friend of mine was with a scout troop on Jean Lake and had a T-storm blow down a huge white pine onto their campsite that fell on one of the scouts' tent.   A limb went right thru the tent and sleeping bag and pinned it to the ground right between his legs.

Another friend of mine was fly fishing out in Bozeman when a storm came up.  They packed up and while they were heading out on the trail the guide got stuck by lightning, and the others were knocked down and couldn't move.  He was the tallest in the group and said; "From now on," he said. "I'm only fishing with people who are taller than me."

yup....the camp setup with reguards to weather always seems to be a dilema to me.  It's rare that I/ve felt "secure" in a camp.  There always seems to be some sort of compromise.

Nothing like a good rain, thunder and lightening in camp to show you how signifigant you are in the universe!
