Fishing is usually good the week before or after you are there. You can count on it. When I've been there, its been good.

I congratulate you on choosing the Angleworm entry. It's a long portage, but a scenic one, and not very technically challenging. The reward is a beautiful lake with a few very nice campsites, decent smallmouth fishing, and not a lot of traffic. The big scary portage keeps out the riff-raff  

The take-out on the north end of Angleworm can be a bit tricky, or at least it was for me. Not really a landing, but more of a slick ledge. But it's nothing to lose sleep over, and then it's a nice short portage into Home.

There is a nice campsite on Home Lake that would serve as a decent base camp for day-trips in the area. I didn't stay there, but I stopped there for breakfast last year en-route to Gull from Angleworm. If I remember right, it's on a flat ledge, big enough for 1-2 tents, and it's the only campsite on the lake. Not a bad spot at all.

I haven't yet made it up to Bear Trap or Thunder, but I'm told that the little shallow lake at the half-way point on the portage from Gull holds a surprising number of fish. I can't remember what species this guy said he'd fished there, but it's something to keep in mind as long as you're heading that way. Of course, he could have just been blowing smoke at the new guy.

I didn't do much fishing on my last trip, and the trip before that was in February. So my thoughts on the fishing in that area are almost purely speculation and hearsay.
