Had an unexpected call from Dave Ribey better known as Q-Dave here.
He was checking to see if I was still alive after not seeing me for 2 years Cry
Things are rough up there, like they are here in MI and else where.
Dave said last season was worse ever for him. Fewer and fewer people using the park, or at least using him as outfitter.
He ran some trips outside park for fishing groups and some up into White Otter.
With the Mills closed down, jobs are few and far between.
He said their was talk of opening mill to produce wood pellets for commercial use, so he was happy about that.
He also has a NEW job Grin He's now the road grader driver responsible for keeping Flanders road in drivable condition.
Right now its only 10-12 hours a week, come warm weather it will be a daily gig. From highway to about 2 km from LLC reservation. The Tribe takes over about where the signs saying NO alcohol or drugs on reservation are posted.
Still plans on doing outfitting, but this will be his stable income for near future.
So if you see him in grader, honk your horn, give a wave, and get the HELL out of his way LOL, he's learning by doing Wink
