well, I have ice fished there. I talked to another fellow who was going to fish there this winter, but he didn't because a wet heavy snow had the brush and small trees bent over the portage , closing it to passage.

We got close to Range Lake last year.  We portaged up from Jackfish Bay to the mid-point of the portage to Sand Pit.  I'm afraid I didn't take the trail to Range Lake to check it out.  The portage route up the Range River from the south was not used very much.
