Then again, I've never been there either. [/quote]

I don't think they meant Range Line Lake... But I have interest to paddle to a certain campsite and hike into Range Line myself in May. Thanks for the link, the depth map of the lake makes it even more worth the trip in. So Thanks db.

Sandpit to Range
Boundary Waters portage
Posted by: Pax
Season/Year: Spring 00
Water Level: average
Length: 160 rods
Rating: easy Additional Perspectives:

Portage Description:
Must've been part of railway system that continues to Horse. It is relatively flat and straight. When leaving Sandpit, the trail branches in several directions a few times. Always stay to the right! A bit swampy at first leaving Sandpit but quickly gets nice. The loading\unloading area on Range is a bit cramped but is workable.

Lake after portage: Range
Known campsites: 1
Lake Description:
Basically it is a big bowl. The Range river flows in from the South and flows out the Northeast. There is a lot of lily pads. The lake has Bluegill, largemouth, walleyes, Smallies, and Northerns. Also rumored to have crappies. The campsite is large enough for 2 tents and the river is fun to explore to the south. Not many shoreline spots to fish. The lake is only about 80 acres.
