Lots of tasty sounding recipes.  However, every one I looked at was based on fresh food (both meats and veggies).  I save a huge amount of weight by alternative foods.  Its not gormet, but I'll wait until I get back home to engage in that.

Yes I usually pack light too - probably lighter than I need to, old backpacking habits I guess.

But fresh herbs count as light (for me), as do tiny plastic containers of lemon juice or minced garlic. If you're willing to try chicken or meat seasoning combinations on freshly-caught fish, then many of the recipes could be adapted for lighweight canoe tripping - for example #30: garlic paste, rosemary, thyme, olive oil, and lj.

I hear some people even pack jars of peanut butter into canoe country. Once you agree to that, a lot more on the list becomes do-able.
