Oh really nice photos lately.

I'm packing for a mid-September trip, and I'm looking at the Aug. 25 web shot, the Aug. 28 fire shot, and the Sept. 1 "sun paddle" shot (as well as others), how I wish I had a modicum of the lens talent these shooters have.

Dang, man.

More, please.

Take a bunch of pictures. Toss the bad ones out before anyone else sees 'em. It's pretty simple really. Can you buy a luck filter yet?

Finally!  Up until now I thought I was the only one who took photos of our clothesline with laundry/clothing hanging on it.   Grin

Rick,

Thanks for the nice close-ups.  I like the berries, et al; or ate all.

Today's thing.

I've seen a number of these at similar locations and have always wondered how they inserted them and how long is that eyebolt or whatever it's called?  Sometimes the stuff humans did/do simply amazes me. I'm hoping this is one that someone can easily educate me on. Brownie points will be awarded if you can explain how they were used and/or why there is no rust to be seen?

Pick up the Fall BWJ page 49 and let your kids read it, see if they can figure out the real purpose of the Ring Rock.
I could have done without 90% of that one.
Good question on the rust, when was stainless steel discovered?

Stainless steel was invented 1911 to 1913 according to the web.  Just a guess on the rust question.  If it's submerged all the time or dry all the time there's less chance for a chemical reaction and it won't rust.  I suspect it's a good quality steel and my guess it that the metal dries very quickly after a rain and doesn't have much of a chance to rust.
