Just when you thought it was safe to go in the water.......

For those of you who would like to throw a big lure, as per the previous tip, but have no desire to stray from your current rod selection, part 2 is for you. This is a super deadly set-up that you can toss with 10lb test and preferably a rod with at least a little backbone. It is also extremely versatile which makes for a wide variety of possible applications. There are lots of ways to fish this. My personal favorite is to couple the jig head with a 6" shad tail+skirt (you can get these at the same place or get them at the bait shop). I much prefer, however, to rig the shad tail sideways. This does a few things for you. First off it gives you even more gap for that premium hook to work. But more importantly you get much more of a glide on the drop as opposed to a fall. This set-up is super simple to fish as well. I like to reel and then let it glide, reel and glide, and so on. Try and avoid working the lure with your rod tip. Let the reel move it instead. That way your in position to react to the subtle "tick" you will feel when Mr. fishy nails this. This is one of the few times I have my rod and reel SOMEWHAT pointed at the lure.

The above works great for pike but these heads are great for any fish. Add a big curly tail and take off the steel and you have a nice big walleye offering (of course no one told Mr. Pikey he wasn't supposed to take it away from you)  .

Lastly, even though these hooks are not super thick wire I would be somewhat reluctant to tie to this with anything less than 10lb line. If walleye were my target I would splice in a 4' section of floro as well (same diameter......best connection).

It does doesn't it. What I can't figure out is how you get a trademark and a patent on a jighead?

Ha!.... No question they are proud ($$$) of their lure. Nothing quite like 'em though. Big wide gap angled premium hook, the glide they have on the drop and their ability to ease through the weeds makes them tops in my book.
