Late July trip needs padders

I am planning a trip this July as a Sierra Club outing and need some paddlers.  The trip is July 30th through Aug. 6th.  My father and I are leading the trip starting in Stanton Bay and ending at Nym.  The cost is $500.00 and the group will meet in International Falls email me if interested.  Sierra club membership not required.  email: lo86blazer@aol.com

Not a scam at all.  The $500 pays for all park fees, food and canoe rentals.  I provide all the kitchen gear and portage packs.  All you bring is clothes, bag and tent.

There really is no difference in a normal Q trip or a SC trip.  It just gives me the insurance backing in case of injuries.  Even when it wasn't a SC trip I taught the leave it cleaner than you found it principles.

I am a police officer near Seattle, WA and I plan a trip every year and try and bring people that are new to canoeing there, but this year my dad and I got a little behind in getting our trip out there so I am just trying to fill the group.

Anyone that still thinks it is a scam email me and I will send my cell number and you can call me.

it also helps by getting the trip out there in areas where there is no canoeing like in Quetico.  I don't follow the ultra left wing views, but I do like the envirmental conservancy and clean up they do.

How many people are you looking for? What are the demographics of the groups so far, any pre trip meetings, other than the meet in IF...sharing of contacts and the like...Do you plan the menu?

Right now I am looking for 7 people to go with my dad and I.  The demographic I care about is the abiltiy to carry a pack or canoe and a good attitude.  Age can be a factor if people are to young and can't handle the weight, but we use 42 lbs. kevlar Minnesota II's that most people can carry. 

There will be pre trip meetings once we get a roster, but right now I don't have anybody signed up.  That way we can set up the menu and car pooling if people wish to do so.  I got kind of a late start this year plannig the trip due to family issues and work.

We will do in person meetings for people that can logistically do so and telephone confrence with the rest during the in person meeting.  I like to use Skype so we get some face to face even if through the computer.

You might also tell people the character of the trip.  The distance From Stanton Bay to Nym could be handled with a one-night trip.  Are you planning on traveling into the interior staying at each campsite for 1-night?  Or paddling to a spot on Pickeral, staying there the entire trip, and paddling out to Nym?  Those are two completely diffeent experinces, especially considering the crowds on the Pickeral Highway.

Thanks for the advice.  We are planning to head into the interior of the park.  What we are going to do is travel for a day and stay an extra night at each camp for fishing and relaxing.  Also we might do some exploring of some of the lakes around camp on the layover days.  So the trip will be about 4 and a half days of traveling with 3 layover days.

Can you be a little more specific about your proposed route? Which lakes do you plan to travel? I think that the more details you provide, the better for stirring interest...

Well we got the route pretty much nailed down.  Nym to Jesse on day 1, Jesse to Sturgeon on day 2, lay over day 3 for fishing and exploring.  Day 4 Sturgeon to Chatterton near split rock falls and lay over day 5, Day 6 Chatterton to Pine Portage Bay, lay over day 7 and paddle to Stanton Bay on day 8.  The food is up for discussion.  We have 3 signed up and need 4 more.
