I just got my orvis catalog the other day and was flipping through and noticed they have changed the safe passage chest pack. The new one is bad news IMO. It is bigger and weighs a ton at 2.5 lbs. No dice!

I pulled an older catalog and placed an order for the old one. They have very few left and had to pull this from a retail store. When I get something I REALLY like I try and have a spare.

This is a superb pack for the fisherman. I carry an abundance of tackle all neatly organized. My folding net slides into an elastic holder of sorts on the back. My boga clips to a D ring on the front. The whole set-up slides underneath my seat. I portage this pack while portaging the boat. They are discounted now as well, from $79 to the mid fifties. I have had mine for over 10 years with just a little sign of wear. Here is the link. (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) It says it's no longer available but call and ask them to pull one from a retail shop, there's still a few around. You can thank me later Wink.

When do you wear it? Seems like you could not wear it with a PFD or can you?

Very insightful question. Since I have an inflatable and tuck that within my seat on portages the thought never crossed my mind. I think it would be very awkward to wear it under or over a PFD. Smiley
