From all the reports, it sounds like its been a tough year for paddlers.

Dude! Man up!  Grin

In all seriousness, dying from hypothermia while stuck in the mud alone has been one of my greatest fears since early childhood. Glad you're still with us. Only advice I can offer is keep moving - never stand still as you just sink in farther - and put on your PFD. But you already know all that.

Next chapter please.

Shocked
Wally, one of the things I love about your trip reports is that you don't gloss over your mistakes and allow others to learn from them Cool
We talk all the time about the dangers of dehydration and how it can effect you physically and mentally as well.
I'd be willing to bet that your being dehydrated had a lot to do with your risky decision to press forward even though you knew you had no water and didn't know if you would find any?
From your brutally honest post, I've learned/ confirmed that is way better to haul water than be looking for it Grin
I've started a days paddle thinking I was carrying to much in the way of water Undecided
99% of the time I was glad I had it.
Can't wait till the next chapter Wink

INTERMISSION

Photoshop is mad at me cause I have it on 3 computers.  Won't let me play again until I find my old motherboard  and 32 bit drive...sign-on and deactivate that copy.  I cry FOUL!

I won a free trip to Fargo with a night in hotel!  I'm off to paradise!

I like too, and waiting patiently. Have fun in Fargo.

I always count it as a blessing if I survive a reminder to "be humble" on a trip, especially soloing.

This Oct. going from Maria to Jesse, I ended up visiting Oriana Ck first. grrr Hate it when that happens. I was gawking at campsites and not navigating.

What's funny about that to me is I've been through Maria many times in both directions. One day, going from Jesse to Pickerel, for the life of me I couldn't find that pile of rocks I always curse. Then it dawned on me as it wasn't the first time. DOH! I was in the bay to the east I somehow forgot existed. If there was a pile of rocks in that area, it probably wouldn't be quite as funny to me. I got it right after that. Still hate that landing though.

Ok....here is the next installment...you will have to suffer through Photomatix single exposure manipulations which i grossly oversharpened in Picasa.  I still have not made peace with my Photoshop program.  Therefore...many of the pics will look abit weird.

Some more shots of Wesa, 'cause I like her...and I'll never see her again!
