Who might I bump into in WCPP this summer?

I plan on entering at Onnie on July 10 and use the Gammon River to get to the far side of the park and Craven Lake. Then my real fun begins as I try to connect up with the lakes I explored last summer that lie west of Walking Stick. I may have to carry fishing gear to see how many of the remote lakes have Walleye. That is unless someone else shows up to do the dirty job of surveying the fish. Anyone going to have the coffee on as I paddle down the Gammon River?

My plan is going in SW corner of park at Garner. Doing a loup in the SW Corner of the park from the Manitoba side.
(Subject to change)  not sure on dates yet...but you never know who you will run into, in a canoe in WCPP Smiley

Solotrip, if the lake is too small to land on just buzz my camp and then drop the steaks, beer and melon.

That is why I am firming up my dates so early. I have talked a few friends into flying in and joining me after a few weeks.  They will bring in fresh supplies and then haul out the trash and empties when they leave. Like my old neighbor always said "What good are friends if you can't use them for something." Grin

Hi Marten - I'll be entering the WCPP about the same time.  Not sure about our route yet, but would love to meet for coffee on some smooth rock overlooking the Gammon.

Amazingly my plan is still intact. Bob will drive up with me and we will part company once on the water. I will put my new carbon double blade to the test as I head all the way to the western edge of the park via the Gammon River. Bushwhack my way to Walking Stick where two friends will fly in to meet me. Ron loves to fish and he will be looking for Walleyes on a lake 5 miles upstream from Mooseakan. We will portage SE from Walking Stick through one lake and end up on "Echo," another Walleye Lake. When the plane comes in to pick them up Craig will be on it. We will head east through last years exploration to Twin Lakes. I need to find a route over to Larus Creek. Last years route burned up and was 3 k long hope to find a shorter and easier way to get to Larus Creek. Once that is done we will go to Royd and Bob will join us for a route through the "Minjim." Looking forward to my fisherman friends supplying me a meal of Joey Lake Walleyes. We will end up going through Domain and end up on Glenn Lake Aug. 7 to join any others there for a rendezvous. If you will be in the area at that time Harlan at Red Lake Outfitters can give you details.

Hey Marten -- sadly, I won't be in the WCPP this summer.  Had a new hip put in 2 weeks ago, so I'm done canoeing this year.

But next year, who knows??

Looks like we'll just miss you.  Harlan will be shuttling my wife and I into Leano on the 9th.  We'll be in for a little over 3 weeks.  Have a great trip.

Kerry, I will probably be too far to the north most of the time but you may come across Bob. I think Mexican Hat is on his list of lakes he wants to fish.

Both Irvine and Joey were good on walleyes for us this year. Good luck Martin... Gonna have to check out that Echo Lake now I guess one of these years.  Grin Good luck finding a "better" route. BTW: Met Howard Holtman on Irvine, he says to say hi.

Heading to Manitoba on July 21 (Saturday) going in on Sunday the 22nd for 7 day solo.  Going in at Beresford Lake, and into Garner, going in SW Corner of Park,  Up to Haggert, then East and South.  65 mile loop.  Can't wait!

In next Weds (following SunCatcher's ripples) at Garner, to Haggart L, N through Broken Arrow, Haggart R, (maybe Adventure Creek), Bulging, back through Haggart L back home.

Hope to catch some sun, bigger moose, and maybe even a few tiny fish.

Hopefully there will be ample water in Garner River to make for a pleasant paddle to Haggart.  Keep an eye out for motor craft in the meandering stream between Beresford and Garner!  The ones I ran into seemed to think it was a slalom course.  Luckily most saw me in time to motor down so I didn't get swamped.

Yes, I tried to schedule a mid-week put-in and return to avoid the weekend yahoos from Winnipeg ... based on info in your earlier posts on this board.

Thanks DD for the tip (and the earlier trip reports) and to SunCatcher for his quick PM.

Canmore Folk Fest this weekend then I'm gone Cheesy

I will generate some kind of report before next spring.

Dont forget to stop at a gas station or somewhere that sells Manitoba Provincial park Permits, you need one.  $30
I would send you mine, not sure you would get it in time?
