Fresh salad anyone?

Do you-all eat fresh salad on your trips to the QP?

Whenever I show canoe pictures to friends, they invariably comment on our fresh salads.  Every evening our meal begins with romaine lettuce, carrots, onions, and shredded cheese, usually topped with some raspberry vinaigrette.  Even on warm weather trips, we've been able to eat fresh salad for most of the trip.  We bring in whole carrots (stay better than the little stubby things), and heads of romaine keep well, (may have to peel off the dead leaves after awhile).  Every canoe trip photo series has pictures of sunsets, walleye, canoes, and salads!

Anyway, I wonder if others do this, and what different tricks/approaches you use with regard to fresh salad.

gotta put in another pic, and haven't figured out how to add more than 1 pic per post.

Sometimes our salad is part of the main meal! (see pic)

Never tale salad but I would like to know about that Nalgene bottle.  Is that a 40oz bottle?  I've never seen one like that.  Looks taller and slimmer or is just the photo angle?

I have to say that the salad idea is completely new to me.  We usually do our food packing at home (Louisiana) so I haven't dabbled in obtaining fresh ingredents near to the entry point.  Certainly something to think about.  Thanks for the suggestion.

PJ -- DD is right (of course!) The nalgene bottle is 48 ounces.  I've used it for years, but I never knew it had a name,  although "Silo" fits.  The bottle fits nicely along the inside of my day pack, and is perfect for mixing crystal lite for lunch for 4 guys.

JJ -- it's certainly not a cheeseburger or chocolate malt, but the guys I go with appreciate some fresh food.
