I'm planning much the same route as DentonDoc, except we'll be going about six weeks later.  My oldest son will be just returning from Korea after 2.5 years there; he has me taking him to Quetico virtually the next day!

I expect to hit some of the smaller lakes (Ted, some No Names) then McIntyre, Burt, Suzanette, Brent, & Wicksteed... just to name a few.  I also plan to revisit the site of an infamous Flamingo Jimboree of yesteryear.  I intend to check out a report that remnants of the "pink stew" Old Salt fixed for our large party have coalesced into a sedimentary sub-strata on that rocky island where that large, motley QJ flock once celebrated.  If true, this will represent quite a puzzle for future generations of geologists.

I suspect my group size may grow some but, so far, it's just my son & me for what I expect will run about 11 days on the water.  I always manage to add some new water to each trip & this will be no exception.  Anybody planning to be in this sector of the park during the mid-July timeframe should feel free to contact me (or see me at Copia); I thoroughly enjoy hooking up with other QJ'ers in the park.  Stand advised that, just like DD, my camp will sport the Flamingo Flag!  Also, if I haven't managed to con anybody into buying my WindPaddle sail before then, we may be "sailing" pink, too.  Believe me, you WON'T miss us!

Finally, there is the likelihood of a fall trip ("couples" trip?), either back to the Q or even up to Woodland Caribou Park.  Don't have that one entirely figured out just yet.

Later,

Jimbo   Cool

Looks like Northcountry Ben wins, for length of time on the water! I'm a little envious Wink   Here: some hiking on the Sioux Hustler (western BW) in early July; a ten-dayer with California canoe buddy in second half of July up to Mugwump PMA in the BW; a week camping on the North Shore (Cascade State Park) with the wife, in August.

Just got my permit for July 21st entering the Quetico through Cache bay, then up the Falls chain to Kawnipi. Up to the top of Kawnipi then to Heronshaw and Camel on the way to Veron and Delahey. Then the Death March to Conmee eventually working our way south to North bay and the Man chain back to Saganagons and Cache. Two 51 year old men, 4 college age women, only one of which has been to Quetico and she insists we go to the olive jar. 2 big Minnesota III's. I can't wait for these 11 days to arrive.

August 24-Sept 3, in and out at PP, plan to go up to Sarah and that area, no real agenda, just some loose plans and the search of fish. We fly the jolly roger at our camp if you're in the area.

As I clearly recall, you licked the pot clean. You and QP did the 'rock, paper, scissors' thing, and you won the third tiebreaker.  Cheesy

I'll be traveling with one other person.  We both drive skin/kevlar colored Prisms.  Mine is the one with QJ Logos on the bow.

June: QP from Beaverhouse, looping down to Poobah, and then out at Nym

July: WCPP.  Taking a route suggested by Marten, can't think of all the lakes and don't have my notes!

August: Nothing planned, yet.

September: Little Indian Sioux up to LLC, east, then out via Nina Moose.

I assume that you won't catch much and we will clean up your mess! Just do your best to tease the smallies.

Gonna try something new this year - WabPP in first part of August.  I'm interested to see how accurate the low usage numbers really are.  If true, I don't expect to see hardly a soul outside our crew for 10 days.  Paddle in from Armstrong and train out at Schultz's.  Not a real remote route for WPP, but I don't want to scare off my crew with something overwhelming. We'll do a couple layover days and maybe add some side trips.  According to some trip reviews I've seen, the catching is just as awesome as the fishing, but no smallies.  It's going to be a long drive up after flying into MSP and we should be on the water the next morning.
