I am wondering about the details to obtain Crown Land permits.  For example, paddling from Crane Lake into Namakan Lake and staying on the Canada side:
Where do I write to, or go to, to pick up a CLP?
I assume you also need an RABC or to stop at the Canadian Customs on Crane Lake to check in.
What is the fee(s) per day for the CLP.
Any special rules?  Like... just 4 boats per site and up to 9 people?

Last time I did crown land was 2004.  Daily camping fee was $10 and they can be obtained at outfitters, bait shops and anywhere else they sell fishing licenses.  We went north of Atikokan up through Dashwa and through the Crow Rock chain, Wasp, White Otter area etc...  (Very pretty BTW - good fishing too but now it's a "green zone"  Tongue) and we got everything we needed at Walts Dry goods. In your instance, I would call the MNR.  (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links). . .

Some years ago you did not need a permit if you were staying in a facility supplied by an outfitter.  A tent qualified as a facility and our outfitter only charges us a couple of dollars a day for the use of his tent.  His tents were nicer than ours.   Talk to an outfitter might save you some dollars.

Your route takes you right by Sandpoint Lodge, 1 bay to the north of the customs you just mentioned on Sandpoint.  They'll sell you the permits...$9-10/ night.  Camp anywhere you like.  Sandpoint lodge will also snailmail you the permits, or even drop them off at any business on Crane for you.  They're open year round and can also sell you fishing licenses.  Can't miss their place, on point on N side of bay.  Can see them on Google Earth as well and you can Google their web page for more info.

Bring your outdoor card, you can skip customs 1 bay to the south if you have a valid RABC
