Local snow total from the weather station for us...18 inches in the past two days...today my car is just a white lump, no black showing.  Should have some really interesting conditions once this all starts to melt.   Wink

So yesterday a friend stops by and says "You can't let your tires freeze into ice as deep as the wheel rim.  It can pop the seal and then you have flat tires."   Huh  Apparently this can be a problem for ice-fishermen.  Or it could have been my friends' diabolical humor playing tricks on me...
Today my brother and I were considering our friend's warning and he says "Maybe you should go down and dig out the tires and see how deep the water/slush is around them".
So I did and sure enough the water was definitely up to the bead on the rims of the tires.   Lips Sealed  That was 2:00 pm; the photo is around 6:00 pm.  What doesn't show are some sturdy chains and two come-alongs which were also employed.  Now at least the car is on "dry" ice closer to shore.

So is your car stuck on the island for the summer? Or can you still drive out?

It is still on the island and will have to be barged off if I can not get it to the mainland in the next week or so...
My window of opportunity to be on strong ice without slush/ice on top to get stuck in is narrowing rapidly.  I am still hopeful.
Regarding total ice out...3-4 weeks away yet!!!

May 2nd update...finally threw in the towel and decided the car will be on the island until sometime in June.  The past several days of really warm weather has cleared the snow but left the ice too fragile at the shorelines to get either on, or off, with the car.  Still 24-30 inches of solid ice cover on the lakes tho  Tongue
The flooding and weather has broken up the streams and rivers and we usually can depend on having open lakes in about 2 weeks after the rivers open .
