Stumpy?

Same thing? Nope. Different perspective? Perhaps. I locked 'em both for kicks and efficiency. Same deal, different cards?

Is there a map available so that those of us who are on vacation or are working too damn hard can make a rational comparison from our comfy chairs?

Do your friends and family think your adventurous? Perhaps even insinuating a bit reckless? Mine do.....but the truth is I am careful and conservative by nature and am continually evaluating risk/reward (why am I out in the middle of sturgeon lake after noon?).

I thought my strong tendency for safety glasses while off trail was a bit extreme but now I feel vindicated.

This trip sounds fun.......right up to the swimming part Cheesy

Yesterday he was leaving the Q by swimming the Basswood river. He noted how he is practicing LNT by burning or packing out his TP. What a contrast to the now infamous LNT boy scout leaders in Goblin Valley Utah. I am so impressed with this feat I may have to make a trip through Ely to greet and congratulate him.

I'm with you, Jon. I look forward to hearing more about his adventure, after he walks back to his shop tomorrow. Some of the places he passed through sound pretty cool.
One tough dude.

Huh. Seems whoever used the computer before me yesterday had a facebook account. It's cool and all. One would assume he did some practice swims....

I hope his mission is successful but I wonder if he'll ever do it again now that he has the one experience. Anyone think he'll offer it as an outfitting option for clients? I actually thought it would generate more interest than it seems it did.

He has a video explaining the dry suit and I'm sure he had to do some trial runs with the pack and all. Summer would be a whole nother story, not like that is how I would burn my 2 weeks, I would have cried like a baby after a couple days on this trip. Sounds like he is camped outside or on the edge of the BWCAW and will stroll into town in the morning.
I couldn't imagine outfitting something like this, maybe he'll do it naked next time.

Go for it pajeff, if you do this naked it will rival John Colter's escapades in 1808 or Truman Evert's ordeal in Yellowstone. I recommend you carve a rock along the way into your general profile and scribe your name and the year into it to cement your legacy. Good luck and Godspeed to you in that endeavour.
