Canoe limericks

I've spent too much time inside this winter.  After a beer or three, some friends and I try our hand at writing limericks.  Here's one I came up with:

BRANG
From his foodpack a paddler pulled Tang
"I can’t drink that!"  his mate loudly complained
Then out came the brandy
The night turned Jim-dandy
As they enjoyed the new drink called Brang

Many of you have probably heard this one before: (I don't know the author)

THE PELICAN
A wonderful bird is the pelican,
His bill will hold more than his belican.
He can take in his beak
Food enough for a week,
But I'm damned if I see how the helican.

SO, if any of you are so moved, share a limerick or two!

Just found out The Pelican was written by Ogden Nash, for those who wondered.....

Prouboy,

Limericks are tame compared to "Bushwhacker Balladeering" and "Voyageur Rap."  They were quite the thing during days of yore on QJ!  You should do an archive search & check them out....

inspired by the pike thread:

i'm hunting a huge esox lucius
it requires the wisdom of Confucius
the finding's a chore
he's eluded me before
this year will be more ambitious

zski -- very nice!  Now I've got to think (and drink another beer).

Jimbo -- I struggled, as in my opinion, any "real" limerick is a bit "bawdy," but I'm not sure about how the moderators would feel about that, so I stayed tame.  I'll check out the archives.

Maybe something like this?

I got me a hankering for trout
So over deep water’s my route
Oh drat, I’ve hooked bottom
Wait a minute… I’ve got’em!
And that’s what my fishing’s about….

Doggone it, now you got me started!
******************************

Canoe-campers will seldom drink beer
Too much weight with the rest of their gear
While booze may not last
It takes us quite fast
To the place we are trying to steer.

******************************

Hopefully that gets this limerick-infection out of my system.  Mine won't get any better (unless, of course, you've been sipping a LOT of beer).

here is a little silliness:

I paddle a boat made from Cedar.
I fish for pike with a line and no leader.
But what makes me man,
Is when I go to the can,
And survive the swarms of mosquiter.

and maybe this one will kill the thread  Undecided

db's got a nice . . . pot?   Wink
And PJ's jug, you better not touch.   Huh

My goodness that was fun.   Roll Eyes
