I think it's the non-stop flood of negative, if it bleeds it leads stories 24/7. Between that and the winter "blahs" it's easy to feel like your "suffocating".
One of the over the air broadcast channels I get, has old comedy classic movies that as a kid I loved.
Spend an hour watching Laurel and Hardy or Abbot and Costello and laughing yourself silly like you did when you were a kid is a great way to escape the seemingly never ending harsh realities of today's world. Wink

I just need enough snow so I can hit the cross country ski trails.  Nothing like skiing a few K's to make the world a better place.  Plus, getting Christmas over would help.

No.  I clicked on this thread because the title puzzled me.  Coming up for air?  Must mean buried under something?  But not me.  This afternoon I was just thinking about how I feel about today, and this week.  And it's all good.  And I am certainly not thinking "getting Christmas over would help".

47 years ago today I was getting ready to go to my wedding rehearsal, and I was a nervous wreck.  Couldn't figure out why, because I was confident about getting married, but I was so stressed on that night I almost didn't survive the rehearsal and the dinner.  Fortunately, the wedding itself was beautiful (or at least if it wasn't, I didn't notice) and life for the past 47 years has been most interesting.  But on that night I surely did wonder what lay ahead.

A life, that's what.  Not perfect.  Not always easy.  But many adventures, much travel, a remarkable husband, two spectacular children, two terrific in-law children, and two fabulous grandchildren.  A life with enough challenge to remind us we aren't always in charge, and with enough blessing to remind us that it's just as well.   

So now I am looking past our 47th anniversary tomorrow to a celebration of Our Lord's birth next week with our daughter and family in their home.  Such fun!  Then a trip to Texas to watch our Spartans play in the Cotton Bowl on New Year's Day.  And suddenly 2015 will stretch ahead, full of promise and new opportunities.

For us, that probably won't include a canoe trip.  I seem to have come to the end of that road, as my mobility is declining quite dramatically now.  But there are cabins in the canoe country and there are still canoes.  Once I can't get into and out of a canoe, maybe there will be boats with motors!  (Egad, did I actually say that?   Tongue )

Lighten up, guys!  Sing a Christmas carol, or go get some eggnog!   Grin  And have a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

When I drove to the cities this past weekend all the electronic signs were warning about air quality. Was glad to be home in northern MN on Sunday.

My theory is that it's been the warm weather up here that has kept all of us outside until mid-November...when things seem to freeze solid overnight...then the holidays hit...the Fall has flown by...now we are into Christmas. Coffee is key at times like these (the stronger the better)  Wink
