Spartan 2 and ST, thanks for your encouragement.  I just got back from three days near Algonquin Park with my new camera.  The Milky Way wasn't visible but I did get one black, crystal clear night to take my first crack at night sky photography.  I think I got some useable shots.  Something for me to work on anyway.

I'm for encouraging EVERYONE to submit POD pics Cool
Don't be shy. Even what you might think is a "bad" BW/Q pic is better than NO pic at all, IMHO at least. Wink Grin

Kerry--what is your new camera?

I am going to have to sell my heavy stuff and invest in a mirrorless system, I think.  I have heard that they are lighter and still give good images.  I am looking for someone who has experience with them to give me advice.

It is the Fujifilm Xt1.  It is an absolutely remarkable camera.  Many professionals have elected to unload their full frame equipment and go with Fuji.  Fuji lenses are outstanding with a very strong lineup of primes and zooms.  The system isn't cheap but still far less than full frame options.  I bought mine used with two lenses for nearly half the retail price and all the equipment still had 10 months of warrantee left.  There are also plenty of great tutorials available on how to use the Xt1.  If you're into photography, I can't say enough about this camera.

Today's pic reminds me of the early fall when the bugs are gone and the mornings and evenings  leave the lakes mist in fog. Smiley

Mossback,

Could that watered down rock in today's pic be on an island in Sark?  It looks a bit familiar, but not sure.

Or, could it be from an island on Kasakokwog?

I agree w/PD; the pic seems eerily familiar.  Of course, there are LOTS of rock shelves (ideal for "kitchens") in the Q....

I think that's more like a 6-8'rock wall than a shelf....make a better wind break than kitchen.....'les you're really tall.
