Ditto, I like those campsites right on the water.

Well, unless the weather turns in the middle of the night but sometimes you have to go for it.  Wink Grin Grin

You have no idea how long I looked at the sky and at the impervious rock wall above that tent site.

Thank you. I'd much rather be there right now too. That is, with September's weather instead of January's.

Where are we at today?

From the looks on some of those face's it appears to be one of those "whose bright idea was this" days. Wink Grin Grin

We are on the creek connecting Poacher Lake to Sunday Lake,  this past fall. For the most part, it was easy going and pretty. But there were a couple of pinch points where you had to jump into the water and walk your canoes through, around and over rocks.

We didn't stay on Poacher but took "the back way" to avoid a Bayley Bay that was so chopped up that just getting from Prairie Portage to the Poacher Portage was nerve-wracking. That last stretch (after leaving the lee of the big island to the east) was especially so, as we had to paddle parallel to the waves that were crashing in from Bayley.

Not how we wanted to start a trip (hence the grumpy faces) but we made it to Agnes despite the wind and late start and then to Woodside by the next afternoon.

Quetico has many faces to show, as Robert Beymer so poetically wrote ...
