Good article in the BWJ. I am coming to the realization that my days of the type of trip I like best will come to an end sooner or later.  I have discussed a trip with Jimbo and nctry and both have given health reasons for not committing to the trip (maybe they don’t have health problems maybe they are trying to tell me something?). I have had my own problems with knees. I can relate to the BWJ article and it scares me.

I have a good friend who has a PHD in Chinese medicine ( acupuncture/herbs) and works on Olympic athletes for their issues involving joint/muscular pain. Believe it or not some of these young athletes have the same issues older people have due to the stress of their training and heredity factors.

If your taking prescription meds or even if your not, before trying these alternative herbal supplements you should talk to your doctor to make sure they don't conflict with each other.

He gets great results with things like this as well as his acupuncture treatments.

If your looking for an alternative to opiate type drugs and would rather try a healthier alternative first, then this might be worth looking into.

If I come across any of you gents in QP or elsewhere, I'll volunteer my sherpa skills. I can jackrabbit across the portages if I have to but I generally move at leisurely double-portage speed these days. When I solo, I've convinced myself that there is no rush to get anywhere fast. Perhaps it's with the realization that I need to pace my rate of travel.
