It's not real far behind the campsite just south of Mosquito Point, Pickerel Lake, Quetico. There's a raspberry patch back there too.

I thought that looked familiar. I always wondered what the story was about this little cabin.

We just stopped for lunch and a little exploring and thought it was like a utility shed judging by the size. I looked at (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) again today. Was the roof metal? That looks like metal to me so I'm thinking someone thought hey, this would make a good roof... Wink

My shot was some 25 yrs before yours. Were these things still there? I couldn't figure what the heck they were, what their purpose may have been or even what kind of material they were made of. I've never seen anything like it before or since.

It was still there in 2013. That was not my trip report. This is the photo I took then. I wandered around a bit more and found lots of metal debris including this piece of cast iron stove.

I'm betting relics from the logging days in the area before the park was established.

Those weird looking objects might have something to do with working with casting metal/repairing logging equipment.

Did you notice the long crosscut saw blade in my photo?

No, I didn't. I took a quick peek but was focusing on the cabin/tin roof. I don't think that big saw is something you're going to be hauling around on a daily basis. I bet that spot was involved in some aspect of the logging industry.

Still would love to know what those weird looking objects were? They look like part of a bigger piece that was broken up.
