Given the northerly location it is equally probable that they are snowshoes hares rather than cottontails.  Hares are, however, born without hair so if they are snowshoes hares they would be several weeks old.

i would guess snowshoe hare too.  we had an adult hare that seemed to enjoy hanging near us at a particular island site. it probably wasn't so much that he liked us but i think that he enjoyed more freedom to roam about with us nearby considering the eagle that resided on the adjacent island was likely aware of him and he knew it.

Portage Dog, please do tell about the 7/1 pic of 2 wolves at a kill site.  Are you kidding us??  It appears that you were very close to this.  This was in a zoo right?  Wink

I recognize the International Wolf Center enclosure and wolves I think.

Thanks Solus.  I wonder if they use road kill?  I really need to get over and visit there.  Last time for me was the first year they opened it.
