Great pic again today Smiley

I always wonder if I made the right choice heading down little creeks like this when the water starts running out.  Undecided Grin Grin

Nothing scared me more in my life than rounding a bend in the Frost River in the BW and seeing a bull moose standing in the middle of the stream.

Back when I tripped with 3 other guys we were on a morning mist shrouded stream up in Maine that was so thick you couldn' see more than 10ft ahead of you.

Little current so we were just floating along keeping in mid-channel. I'm stern paddler in lead canoe.

They guy in front says " Watch out there is a BIG dead tree ahead "  Shocked

Next thing you know were floating by a huge bull moose, could have reached out and touched him with my paddle.

He was feeding when we first came upon him, but
his head came up as my canoe passed and he looked me dead in the eye.  Cry

He let out a snort and went right back to feeding. We cleared him and came to a small sandbar mid-river and stopped for a bit.

We all still were in awe of what had just happened they we realized that NONE of us had even tried to take a pic, even though we all had little waterproof 35mm cameras with us.

Makes you realize just how small and insignificant you are in the natural world.

He looked a lot closer than the picture suggests when I came around the corner.  The current was carrying me back down stream while I took a couple of back strokes and got my camera out.

I've been away from here for awhile, some great PODs I've missed.

The paddle blade looks very odd in this picture.  Is it wood with a carbon fiber blade?

That is Ben’s paddle and I don’t remember much about it.  Maybe Ben will chime in.
