As someone who has crashed and burned more that a few times on hammock entry  Cry I can APPRECIATE today's POD.

Like they say, it's NOT the fall that kills you, it's that SUDDEN stop.  Wink Grin Grin

I am a dedicated hammock sleeper and that looks like an uncomfortable hammock.  Bent like a banana and squeezed side to side.

That is my son in the hammock, he's not too particular,  but I believe he made adjustments after this photo. The hammocks were just for lounging  in the few spare moments we we not fishing. We use tent for night time sleeping.
ST, after a painful failed entry, I now always look for soft landing spot to hang my hammock over.

Not long after buying my first hammock-tent, I decided it would be "cool" to set the thing up right at the water's edge.  In fact, I could only enter/exit on the one side since I was suspended directly over a small indent on the shore line.

Let's just say I learned my lesson re:how much those ropes (and those trees) will "give" or slacken over several hours under the duress of a lard butt.

Sometime between 3:00-4:00am I found my bottom cooling off in Crooked Lake.  Well, at least it was a soft landing....

Jimmar,

Are those Flektarn camo Gore-Tex pants you have on
in today's POD?
Looks the Guides military surplus to me?
IF so, how do you like them?

Why yes they are, you have a good eye. I like them ok, fairly heavy duty, no liner, water proof, functional.  Can't complain about the prce. The suspenders are not that great but they work.

Thanks Jimmar,

For the price, I don't see how you could go wrong?
You can pick up a matching Gore-Tex parka for under $50 bucks.

Anytime you can get a GORE-TEX outfit for under $100 bucks, that's a good deal.

For what it's worth, I just ordered 2 pairs of their Nylon fishing pants that convert to shorts.

Regularly $30 for $18. I already have a pair I like a lot. NOT Rail Riders, but for the price if they last ONE hard paddling season it's a deal in my book.  Wink
