Thanks ST. I remember what a PITA it was walking along the shore to get that angle.

My wife surprised me by having this pic printed on a journal cover.  I've taken it on three trips and probably will retire it.

Today's pic is a great reminder that our beloved 4-legged tripping buddies need to wear their PFDS too. Wink Thumbs Upup

Yeah, always.  I once surprised her by accidentally tapping her head with my fishing rod and she instantly bailed out over the side.  Luckily we weren't far from shore and she swam to it and then hopped back in.  But if God forbid I went over out in rough water it could get dicey without a life jacket.

Re: todays pic - I so wanted to climb that thing but just couldn't do it.  It's on the northern most west site on Gebeonequet Lake in the BW. Nice site too.

This was the evening on Finger Lake in the BW that I unknowingly shared an island with NCTRY (Ben).  We were travelling in opposite directions in 2012 and he and Berniece (his faithful Chesapeake) took the 5 star site on the southern side of the large island in the channel.

I showed up also solo around 4-5 o'clock and approached the island knowing the best site was there.  As soon as I saw color and someone walking there I veered off to look at other sites.  I ended up on the opposite side of the island on a fantastic little site perfect for a solo. It had sitting rocks and this fabulous view of the lake that evening.

Now, I had known Ben was doing a 40 day solo then and would be in my area but what were the odds of us sharing an island that night?  We talked about it afterwards and realized we could have hung out a bit.  So the moral of this is to always go up and see whos on the site.  It just may be a board acquaintance.

I ran into a guy using "my" site on Wolseley and stopped to visit before moving on to option #2.

A month later I met him again in Yellowknife, NWT just before our trip down the Coppermine to the Arctic Ocean. So yeah, try a quick hello to fellow travelers. Now we've been on 3 more trips together.

It's funny how certain pics bring back vivid memories.  This is early morning after I left Ted Lake going south.  It's a no name that links to a mile long bushwhack along a creek that emties into Robinson Lake.

It was September but the day was calm and got to 86 degrees.  This photo brings back my anticipation and also trepidation before the bushwhack knowing that if something happened to me physically in that heavy forest I would not be found for a long time.  I made it through totally exhausted but glad I did it.
