It's so common to see trees growing out of rocks up there, but this is truly unique.  When do they ripen - late July/August like the blueberries?

Apologies for the ongoing cigar content.

PD....according to most non-cigar smokers, they are always "ripe"

PJ....I could not stand being un-knowledgeable of your Behike 52.  You obviously treat your wife like a queen.  Well played on your part.

When you roll-the-dice and go on a mid-October trip, sometimes it comes up "snake-eyes!"

You know, Karl, so many times I look at the POD in the morning and I think, "Ah. . .I wish I were right there right now."

Today I didn't think that at all!   Roll Eyes  It looks remarkably like my back yard, only with a canoe in it!  Can you tell that I am not fond of snow in the canoe country?   Wink

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Today's POD looks like an old-time Christmas Card.
Have a nice Thanksgiving everyone!  Smiley

Yes Lynda, but I'm glad we went.  We go on October trips every year for the past two decades and plan the date months in advance and vote based on schedules, and other factors including moon phases, so we get a chance to see the northern lights.  Once the schedule is set, no turning back; we have participants flying in from oversees.  This year mid-October was the week L Superior had the horrific wind storm and we got 2" of rain, thunder snow, sleet and hail. Last year was 60 degree short sleeve shirt weather, beautiful fall colors and fabulous northern lights.
