One way to poach fish is to use cheese cloth. Suspend fish in boiling water using a "pouch"made of cheese cloth. Keeps all the little stray pieces together. For bacon I suggest Neuskes. Pricey but "shelf stable". I use it on 2 week summer trips and the last pack I open on day 13  is just fine.  jp

I started taking Ghee several years ago, because I had heard it was like butter, but would be fine without refrigeration. No one knew what it was and it became a camp joke with me trying to get the cook to use it. Three years later, it's a staple in my pack!

A perfect time to fish and no rods in sight....  There's probably a 13lb.'er coming in to feed right in front of that guy sitting.  Cheesy

TomT,

Right you are. One of the best times to get big walleyes is at NIGHT.

Magic Paddler and I are sitting there on that Rock Point without our rods because we were wore out from catching so many fish during our daytime fishing time on Burntside.

Burntside.

Did any of you guy's try going out thru Ceph Lk when you left Burnside? Just curious, I've never taken the actual portage in Burntside.

I look forward to night fishing this year. I’m gonna expand my tackle selection.

You might need to expand your light collection... or is that what you mean by going light? Wink

ST -

That would be negatory.  It’s a well-known habitat for pollyhumpers.  I don’t have the energy to deal w/those suckers like I did in my youth. I keep my distance.

Solo tripper,

It was my 1st time into Burntside. No, we didn’t exit Burntside via Ceph.  We came out thru the main portage from Burntside into Jean.
