I sure agree with the good landing becoming more important.  Just makes it easier for these old bones to straighten out after sitting in a canoe for awhile....not to mention staying dry.

So, what say you all of Paddle Planner and it's campsite ratings, reviews, pictures and all that?  Many here use and recommend Paddle Planner.  I'm not big on all this social media stuff either, but here we are in the TMI age.  Bottom line is you still need to work to get there, regardless of the campsite 'rating' and good custodians of the wilderness don't leave sites in conditions that make them unpleasant for others to use.  Overuse, even when done by responsible folk pales in comparison to abuse by even just one group of campers.

I would say that PP is probably a resource used by more paddlers who have done it for a while than newbies.

The BWJ being a glossy magazine probably attracts more first-time paddlers who are intrigued by what they see.

I would say NEWBIES on average do more wrong things environment wise than experienced paddlers out of just ignorance about the do's and don'ts.

On the TP/Poop issue, I don't understand how ANYONE can think that's okay but obviously, people do because you see it all the time. Sad Angry

It does help to get more than a day into the interior.  I rarely see abuse at sites that take 2 days to get to.  M<ostly I find neat fireplaces, extra wood piled nearby and rarely TP in the forest.  Two days of struggle will usually weed out the riff raff.  I like that.  Smiley Just think if it was EASY to get to Poo Bah, or Delahey, or Burt Lake.  That would suck.

I agree the farther you go in the less you see abuse.
BUT I've seen enough on lakes that have few decent campsites which cause that overuse unless you BushCamp which many people won't do.

Going early or late in season helps too.

TomT, can I assume your reference to Poo Bah is another evil pun?

Sunset or morning.  I say ST has his cup of coffee and is on a rock watching the day begin. Smiley

I'm pretty sure that's a sunset pic. I don't know offhand where it was taken though?
I probably have had dinner and that coffee is an IRISH one.  Next-up, get the campfire going. Wink

Sunrise/Sunset are my favorite times in the park any season. I love the light on the water.
