Looks like he's busy makin' lures!  Nice selection there. I remember QP as one very generous person.  Back in the day he emailed me marked maps with notes of campsites and pics. Very detailed with written reports for each camp also. I still have all of that for reference.

I'm pretty sure it was he who is very knowledgable about the various locations of message jars throughout Quetico.

Yep.  That would be the guy.

Yeah, that's our boy, alright.  He also began a quest to film every portage in Quetico.  Not sure how far he got with that.  He also started a CD-based magazine about the park that put out a few issues that had a limited distribution.  I recall he was not-so-happy with The Boundary Waters Journal when it began to do articles "rating campsites" of specific popular lakes.  QP had already initiated such a project with HIS magazine and viewed the notion as his idea.  His version included video of those selected campsites, usually including the view from the site and looking out on the lake.

To say that QP is an ambitious guy is a bit of an understatement.  He's sort of legendary on this website.  He used to be one of the active participants on Friday and/or Saturday evenings on what used to be QJ's "Campfire Chat" (or some such moniker).  It was a virtual campfire that db had set up on QJ for direct on-line chatting for many members at the same time.  It was kind of cool while it lasted, especially when we could get a group of 5-6 or more on-line.  You can exchange a LOT of information in a hurry in real time.

From what I see, it looks like Bo/QueticoPassage has changed his logo.  Oh well, I was never as keen as he was about that old picture of me fishing smallmouth at Rebecca Falls, anyway....

I bet his lures would work just fine on big northerns.  Of course, so would a rusty old Schlitz can embedded with a gigantic hook.  I still have a dazzling & violently pink feathered six-inch spinnerbait that QP made for me 12 years ago.  This just might be the year I give that old thing a whirl.

You're right, TomT, he was/is a generous dude.  He was also useful on portages.  Letting him get ahead of me on portages served multiple purposes: 1) If there was any question at all re: which way the trail turned, I could always simply follow the smoke of his ever-present cigar, and 2) mosquito protection.  Oh, and I suppose there is a #3.  On occasion he would inadvertently pick up a "rigged" pack filled "fire-starters" (mischievously intended for me); filled with heavy chunks of sawed-off creosote railroad ties.  Yeah, in general, Bo was a useful guy to have around.

Later,

Jimbo   Cool

Nevertheless, those of you who have been around QJ a long time can't help but recall QueticoPassage (our grand champion poster for many years).  I figured others, like Intrepid Camper, might be curious as to what he's been up to since he paddled off into the sunset.

Well, I guess you know QJ's been around a long time when we're seeing "where are they now" posts. Thanks for the update Jimbo. I say we make this a regular feature and track down other briefly prolific posters for updates.
