Everyone must be gearing up for a trip or on the road North.

I gotta wait till late August.  I start ramping up workouts around the 4th of July with 2 hour paddles and then a hike with a pack on Sat and Sunday mornings.

I 've found if I get too consumed with my upcoming trip too early it becomes anti climactic.  I'm trying not to be so rigid in my planning and know all about all the available campsites on my route.  I want it to be more spontaneous so I'm just focusing on the menu and not the route so much.

I think of the quiet as peaceful. Chatty is for other sites. Cool

Definitely planning and packing!  Started food packing this weekend and organizing gear.  I've already put in 48 miles paddling twice a week for the past month.  We didn't get much of a hard water season in VA this year.  18 days and a wake up!

Hey gang,

I haven't had much to add for some time. My future bow paddler was born last year, and I lost my long-time sidekick last year. Been a rocky road for a while now. My bow paddler is coming along nicely though, he's 15 months old now, and he's a big, rough and tumble dude.

Talking to the wife this weekend, I have the green light for a shorter ~5 day trip, if I can make that work. Due to other commitments, it would probably have to be mid-August, like the week of the 12th or 19th. I'm just starting to look into what I might want to do. Also, debating if I want to try a kayak-based trip.

Good to hear your still alive and kicking. Wink Grin
Was that side-kick your beloved Penny ( that's her name right ?)

Funny you should post now. The last night of my FUBAR trip, I stayed at the exact campsite that you and IC and I stayed when we met all those years ago.

You'll want to read my trip report. I had another hammock incident. Unlike the one, you guy's got a big laugh out of ( me too) this one wasn't funny at all and changed the whole trip for me.
