Sure is quiet here.   Maybe someone has a trip report they can tide us over with until OS starts reminding us that Copia is coming up?  Something. Anything.

What seems sad to me is that it's ONLY been 6 months since the LAST Copia!  Seems more like six years!

This "time in the middle" gets to be brutal.  Lots of snow & ice between now and paddling season again... beginning this Saturday in the Twin Cities.  Flakes are in the forecast, even though it'll reach the 70's today.

I guess we're approaching daydreaming season.

Typically I have only attended Copia for one night, but  throughout this year I lobbied and won a full 2 day kitchen pass so I can enjoy more of the QJ event and people.  I also want to congratulate Magic in person as another member on my short list of hero's.  Please don't ask me what I had to give up in barter and trade to get the second day.

Regards,

Yes. The long dark freezing months. Ugh.

My youngest daughter is getting married on Saturday about two hours north of Madison.  It's going to be 65 on Thursday, 60 on Friday, then 39 on Saturday, with a "frozen mix".  Tongue Poor girl was planning an outdoor wedding. So inside we go! Looks like my bar tab is going to go up  Huh

So let's all hunker down and share stories of slogging through sweltering portages to remind us that it is possible to actually be warm  Cool

Sorry guys.  I'm a bit tied up at the moment.

A local production of the comedy play "Lend Me a Tenor" goes up for a week-long run.  While I'm not in the play, I am doing some front-end music ... a 5 minute aria from Barber of Seville; and yes, it is all in Italian.

Tomorrow is the second round of auditions for a local variety show.  I'm both in the first act (this time singing the Bach version of Ave Maria in Latin) and directing the second act.  This show goes up toward the end of November.

Before that happens, my wife and I will be returning to Chicago to see our daughter-in-law, who is the only actor/actress performing in "Every Brilliant Thing" at the Windy City Theater (which runs Sept 18 - Dec 8).  All the reviews (both major news papers, a tv station and others) have given it a "Highly Recommended" rating.  Some have also said it is a "must see" and "best show in town."  So if you are headed to Chicago and looking for a "different" kind of play (there is audience participation), you might check it out.

Then after all of that I rest up a bit and start prepping for my audition for "Guys and Dolls" in February, with performance dates in May (rehearsals are generally about 2 months).  I received some of the audition materials today.

After that, I'm looking for a canoe trip!!!

I thought retirement meant you had some free time.  I'm clearly doing something wrong!!!

After two weeks out west and a week up at the land I flew out to San Diego today to dog sit for a week.   73 and sunny today, tomorrow, the next day, the next day.....you get it.  I never envisioned being so busy in retirement.

I was online the last couple of days researching next years adventures.  Never to early to plan!

When do the QJ group singing lessons start Wayne?

Later........

I love the way you spend your time, DD.

Sent a link to the show in Chicago to our kids.  Sounds like a really interesting and neat show--wouldn't mind going to see that myself!
