This campsite is a ways down the lake FWIW.

Now you're messing with me, db....isn't your photo Campsite FA, on the larger of the islands on the north end of Burntside?   Huh

I'm not trying to mess with you. I've camped at two different sites and that great (fireplace POD) site for a north wind on a cold day was never one of them. It was unmistakable as I've seen it once. I'm thinking the one garage size rock was on the north end of an island a little farther north.

No big deal. It's all good. Close enough.

And maybe even do that in 2021!!...  Cheesy Cheesy

Nice loon shot.  Cooperative of them to line up so effectively.

Today's POD was taken on July 21, 2009 on Dahlberg Lake, named as the lake between Ranger Bay and Basswood.  Been there on several trips and the loon family has always been there with a greeting.  Despite the usual bustle of North Bay traffic, this lake is quite secluded and peaceful, especially with the loons serenading you at sunset...  Smiley

Is that the no-name between Ranger Bay and North Bay? Nice lake.

Looks like a couple of loon families (or couples anyway).

Correct Solus...it's to the SW as you exit North Bay...1 decent campsite....aqua tinged water, good smallies and mid-sized pike.  I like this lake for being quiet. And well-protected when windy....

Dang it, PineKnot, you once had some photography skills!

Today's POD is postcard quality stuff.  Well-done!

Thx, Jimbo.  This grey jay is another wildlife friend on Dahlberg.  He got very comfortable with my presence sitting in my camp chair.  When I'd lay a few bits of egg or panbread on a plate a few feet from my chair, he'd drop down and eagerly have breakfast with me....very cool!!    Cool

I miss the grey jays.  They were seen on every trip of mine through the 80's up until 2010 or so.  Seems like their numbers as well as moose have dwindled.  But it could also be that I only go in September now too.

They are still around.  I made it up to Stuart Lake last July.  I forgot to mention in the trip report that when I woke up, sipping coffee with breakfast and packing up to move to Tiger Bay, a family of jays came by high up in the pines above my campsite.  I counted at least 4 of them, two adults like in today's POD and a couple of younger ones that seemed blueish tinged...I guess they were wishing me safe travels after surviving brutal winds/storms/ticks/deerflies the previous day and a half....  Smiley
