Today's pic reminds me of the lily choked bay from North Bay to South Lake or possibly the creek system from William to Darky, but it could just as easily be a host of others, like Eag.  Thx for sharing pk!

pd,

For those who use Prairie Portage to enter Quetico via North Bay, this is that pretty creek leading to South Lake....this pic was taken on Aug 3, 2010.....and it really made me miss getting up that way last year....maybe by this August??    Cheesy Wink

PK.

Well, no wonder it reminded of that bay - it is!  Cheesy

Is that the portage to West Lake?

It looks familiar.  My photo is from 1977.  None of my old prints from that trip are marked, so I was guessing as to location.

Nice old Bell you're paddling pk.  I'm thinking that looks like the north end of Burke Lake going into Burke Creek.

Who you callin' old?   Wink  You're correct on both counts.  It's my 2008 Bell Northwind paddling thru Burke to get to yesterday's POD lilipads....good times!!

Oh.  A 2008 Northwind is "old"?  Sigh.

Ours is a 1998, and we consider it our "new canoe".  I feel ancient now.   Cry

Spartan2,

I am right there with you with an aged fleet. Nothing newer than a 2006.

1979 Mad River Royalex 16’ Explorer
1991 Minnesota II 18’6” Kevlar
1996 Current Designs Solstice GT 17’7” Fiberglass  kayak
2006  Bell Black Magic 16’

Going down to North Carolina at the end of the month to pick up a used 2003 Current Designs Polyethylene 14’6” Whistler kayak. Going to use it for the 1st three days of my 2,300 mile 80 day Mississippi River kayak trip from Lake Itasca to the Gulf. Planning for an August departure from Lake Itasca. The Miss river starts out very shallow and rocky and a shorter poly kayak will take the beating. Going to switch out to longer Fiberglass kayak after Day 3 in Bemidji, MN and use it for rest of the trip.

Mike, sounds like the trip is coming together. Did you get a dehydrator?

TomT,

No I didn't ... although I like the model you suggested. Will eventually get one for sure.

Just spent a bunch on my new Warbonnet Hammock, Tarp, Underquilt etc.

I figured I better slow down the trip equipment deliveries to my house door for a while ... my wife is starting to take notice.  LOL
