I don't care where it is, I just would rather be there right now.

Getting sick of my house after 6 weeks cardiac healing and now being stuck still.

You mean those two gnomes who got squished in their hats when the tree rolled over?

After my "gnome theory", my second best guess would be some sort of internal burl.

Portage Dog showed me something that MIGHT be similar on a portage last year except that it was on the outside of the tree and, to be honest, it came in a very different shape.  He gave it a name which I can't recall just now.

I suppose that, sooner or later, either he or Solus will tell us what the heck this is.  Until then, I'm sticking with my gnome explanation.

They are pine knots- the resin soaked remains of where the limbs joined the trunk.

Never have seen them displayed like this.

Thought I'd explain POD.  That's me setting up an ice shanty for sturgeon spearing on Lake Winnebago which is only about a mile from my home.  We have the highest sustainable lake sturgeon population in the world.
I use a Husqvarna saw with a 42" bar to cut a 6' x 30" hole in the ice.  We then use the push poles, one of which I'm holding, to push the ice cake under the surrounding ice.  We then back the shanty over the hole and bank snow around it to keep the light out...not to mention the cold air.   Then you sit in a dark shanty and stare down the hole till you can't take it anymore!
Anyway, I just submitted the pics for fun to kind break things up a little.  Not sure but there might be a few more coming.  We had to travel via 4 wheelers this year because of ice conditions.  Normally, we would use the trucks.  One day when we left the landing on our 4 wheelers it was -21 with a stiff north wind.  I was so cold that I felt like I did on my canoe trip with Jimbo and Magic last year in Q when my exped went flat! Wink
Stay safe out there.......
