I just slapped my camera upside it's body for lying to me!  Shocked Grin Grin
My journal is a small digital recorder. I bring a page from a calendar to keep track of the day and where I stayed.

The error is either in the camera OR when I change out batteries I might have reset it wrong?
Easy to lose track of day when your having fun.

You can't argue with the pictorial evidence. Makes me wonder if I got a new camera with the GPS option if that would be reliable either.  Undecided

Solus is the man, so kudos for having such a good memory.

You Guys all have unreasonable expectations set for yourself.

I feel fortunate if I just know where I am at the moment, let alone accurately recording or recalling it 6 months later.

Unfortunately the memory acuity is landscape restricted. Give me a name and I can't track it through the end of a handshake.

Today's POD reflects a cooking set-up (hockey puck stove, diffuser plate on top of stove, aluminum plate under stove, removable pot/pan handle, elevated cooking platform, etc.) pretty much identical to my own in most years.

In more recent times I have experimented with the Kelly Kettle cooking system, which requires a very different approach.  It's top-heavy, open fire system would be too unstable & dangerous to place upon a storage box like that.

When I first saw that pic this morning I thought I was looking at one of my own old POD's!

I never travel without a diffuser plate!  The Coleman (500 series?) white gas stove does not need the diffuser as badly as other others because it has what I consider the best burner design of any camping stove.  However, since I made a change to isobutane a half dozen years ago from my Coleman 400 series, the diffuser is pretty much mandatory when doing anything other than boiling water.  This is also true because my cook set is all titanium.  It’s lighter than aluminum but tends to have hot spots without a diffuser.

However, today’s pic is definitely recognizable as an old friend!

That an old dual fuel Coleman which I never used in that capacity. It's at least 30 yrs old. I've had issues with it but nothing I couldn't fix on the trail.

What I really like about it is how low it will go on simmer. Between that and the diffuser plate, you really have to work to burn something.

It's heavy but sturdy and IF they still made the exact same stove, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

I have a source to buy one from the Chinese company that made the old Coleman stove. It looks virtually the same with a few small twists.

I hate to buy anything made in China, especially now so I think I'll keep nursing the old girl along.

MSR Dragonfly has very good simmer control in a white gas stove. Plus its "pump in fuel bottle" design means no hassle with filling the stove.

I like my Dragonfly but some insist it's too loud and prefer the Wisperlite. I always thought it nice to know the stove was still running OK as I walked around camp cause I could hear it. It was trouble if things went quiet.  Wink
