PineKnot,

An interesting shot for today's pod.

How lucky you were to not only witness but also photograph that extraordinarily rare migration of red squirrels swimming across a lake to find their new home!  Remarkable! Incredible!!!

Keep up the great work!

Jimbo  Cool

P.S.  On the other hand, perhaps the rare photo is not so surprising.  You're kind of like the "Pied Piper" for that particular tribe of rodents.  They march behind you determinedly, over-across-or-through almost ANY obstacle.

That's what you get for declaring "war" on those little beggars.... [See official declaration of "war": (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) ]

"And then I look over at my pack on the granite and see a red squirrel trying to chew into the pack.  HEY!!  GET THE HECK OUT OF THERE YOU LITTLE TURD!!  He scampers away, but 10 minutes later he's back trying to chew into my other pack.  OK.  That's it!!  I declare war on the stinking little varmints!! "

Magic,

You get the chance for LOTS of pics like that one IF you share enough camps with PineKnot, the Pied Piper of pesky pests!

If you look closely enough, you can see the vengeance in that little bugger's eyes... "Death to PineKnot!"

They are NOT to be trifled with....

Sadly, this methodology is strictly forbidden under the terms of the Geneva Convention (see: (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)) re: permissible instruments of death in the conduct of war... to which our buddy, Colonel PineKnot, strictly adheres.

Sadly, Jimbo, you are misinformed.  Being trained  in the Laws Of Armed Conflict, I can state unequivocally that LOAC does not apply to varmints, regardless of how cute they are or how proficient they may be in aquatic endeavors.

MP, I thought that little turd squirrel in Tiger Bay looked familiar.  How he navigated Curtain Falls, Bottle River and the pike-infested waters of LLC to reach Tiger Bay is beyond my comprehension.  He is no doubt Lucifer's killer squirrel and likely immortal.   Shocked

Not just one.  Just take a good look at that POD. It's scary!

Every single red squirrel he encountered on his entire Stuart River trip seems to have joined that army of vengeance, valiantly braving big waves and nasty conditions to get at his sorry squirrel-beater butt!

I suspect PK will be paddling "solo" for years to come.  Who wants to deal with Biblical plagues?  It's a terrestrial version of Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds"!  PK has somehow managed to upset the space/time/critter continuum....
