Yep.  Photographers call that "the GodLight".  I, too, enjoyed the trees with the sunbeams.  Fun shot!  And yes, quite artistic.
Cheesy

Look at PK getting all artsy farty today.

TomT, as you well know, those of us who have traveled with him recognize PK as the arsty-fartsy type dude that he really is.  Remember waking to sparkling sunshine, red pine-scented air and the sounds of gentle wavelets lapping at lakeside as PK recited Samuel Coleridge's "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" in dramatic fashion?  And who could forget, after a Scotch or two, during those mellow moments after dusk, his heartfelt and no less charming rendition of "The Shooting of Dan McGrew" by Robert Service?  And these were merely bookends on his fully artsy-fartsy day!  His artistic pursuits reached dizzying heights during the daylight hours, as evidenced by his well-known remarkable scrimshaw-like designs. These masterpieces, sought by (mostly blind) collectors throughout the boreal regions of the northland, were carved out of suitable freshwater clam shells or - more notably - in wood (red pine only, of course).  The best of these he passed along to his buddies as animal "figurines" for placement atop the bows of their canoes.  These strange visages - totems which are arguably "Freudian" expressions of PK's deeper self -  often feature scathing, scolding, menacing countenances of fearsome red squirrels, ostensibly designed to ward off evil spirits or other troubles.

Surely, I need not belabor PK's other notable and well-known accomplishments in and contributions to wilderness opera, modern-day picto-graphing, and bubble-art, must I?  Let's save those accolades for another POD....

PK....do you owe Jimbo some money or something that you're not paying back?

Jimbo - you are indeed a master of the literary arts.

Looked like someone should clean their lens once in a while to me. Wink But hey, one person's Birch is another person's Red Pine.

Haiku.
Rhyming couplets.
Meter.
Rhythm and feet.
Pulse beat and measure.
Iambic pentameter.

The photo's pretty cool, too.

Today's POD:  Keats end of the portage from McDougall?

I remember putting the canoe on belay on that one (although it seemed further down the rock face at the time).

DD,

Those doing THAT portage are mainly chewing grass and sporting horns on their heads!
