Doesn't look like spring.
[from this morning's walk]

Yup...heard something about a record October snowfall in the Cities....more on the way too.   And another hurricane near Bermuda?  Huh.

Thanks.  I love that time of the morning.  A cup of hot chocolate, my wool shirt, and solitude.   You can find that even when you stay in a cabin.

Thanks, db.

This was near the end of the portage from East Bearskin to Alder Lake in the BWCA.  I love the big trees.

Enjoyed your photo today SP2 - big tress are awesome!  I've photographed many too and as good as they come out, it just never seems to capture the grandeur and scale you get standing at the base of one of those forest matriarchs.

I love this shot too.
Reminds me of when I was a kid and would lay at the base of a big tree and just stare in wonder at how tall it was.

Yeah.  Have to love those big pine trees.

Having grown up in the "Piney Woods" area of East Texas, I've seen some majestic pine trees.  I think the largest I've seen in that area was a Loblolly Pine that measured over 130 feet tall.

I also had the daily pleasure of seeing some pines with a huge girth while teaching on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.  Many would require at least 3 individuals joining hands to reach around the circumference.  One of these was visible outside my office window.
