Today's POD shows my standard camp set-up.  Whenever I look at this pic, my canoe-camping juices really start flowing.

How I wish I could plan a next trip!

How big is that hammock tarp Jimbo?
From the pic it looks just big enough to cover your hammock with not much room to spare?

Reason I ask is I bought one of these for car camping and couldn't believe how lightweight it is for the area it covers. Even comes with a nice carry bag.

ST,

It's Clark's XL hammock tarp at 126" X 100".  I've never had a "coverage" issue that I can recall.  FYI

Today's POD is a shot of DD just BEFORE he trips over one of the many tie-out ropes around camp.

We purposefully set up our camps with as many such hurdles and obstacles as possible.  It's called "geriatric therapy." It trains us to stay alert in our old age as our synapses disconnect and our ganglia become inflamed.  It is also great fun to watch when one of us screws up and ends like a fish, flopping around camp and trying to get back to our feet.

It's super fun, especially, around dusk, with a libation or two under our belts.  Everything seems funnier then!

what a mental picture you painted in this description.  Grin Fish flopping and all.  it made me laugh so hard, my wife HAD to see what was so funny. It tickled her too. As a nurse, it was probably the "synapses disconnect and our ganglia become inflamed..."  Grin

The trick for a septuagenarian is to not have any parts break or fall off as you are flopping around on the ground like a fish.

After a tumble, your first thought is ... "OK.  What's still working?"

But after a bit of liquid analgesic, those thoughts run more along the lines of "OK, baby!  Dat ain't no thing!  Bring it on!!!"

TODAY'S POD: "Yet another likely shelter tie-down victim shuffling unwittingly towards his inevitable fish-flopping future."

Do they ever learn?

Jimbo  Cool

P.S. This one's a Walleye.

No doubt his hat was knocked off his noggin a moment ago....or else he's revolting from the advice of his dermatologist to wear a hat at all times to protect his fine scalp....cute legs btw...  Cool

Those tie-out ropes are pretty brightly colored. I don't see how you could miss them.
Or are those just the ones used to lure passers-by into a false sense of security?

Zski,

Yeah, those tie-outs were pretty bright, but you gotta remember these guys were pretty well "lit", too.

What words of profundity (profanity?) did Sir Wally13 have for me as I snapped today's POD?:

"Egads, Jimbo, regard thee yon beach!  Pray levy my bait, my canoe, and even my walleye kingdom but for a single beer!!!"

Me: "Aye, sire. Alas, but there is a dearth thereof!  Would that I could slake thy royal thirst in such a manner!  For what value holdeth even paradise without that noble beverage?!!"

This, by the way, was pretty typical conversation during two very hot June weeks in the BWCA.

Jimbo  Cool
