Be nice, young man.  Never doubted your skillfulness.  North is also better for big pike and trophy smallies....

Oh, you can doubt MY walleye skills all you want.  The smallest one (maybe two) of that particular bunch were mine.  King Wally13's walleye skills, however, are an entirely different story.  There's something to learn about walleye fishing every time you go out with that guy.

Later,

Nice set up for fishing.  Sounds like you guys had a great time!  Referring to the pic of DD "wandering" around camp...."All who wander are not lost".....someone .    Smiley

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Thanksgiving Day POD: About all I can think to say about today's POD is that I am thankful for the fine days and the comaraderie shared at site # 150 in the BWCA.  Sure, we all really wanted to be in Canada.  Nevertheless, we had a great time out there on LLC while Covid was raging back home.  So, now, while Covid rages yet again, I have pretty good memories to reflect upon and appreciate... for which I am truly thankful!

Wishing all of you similar memories of your own making, especially if you can't be exactly where you wish to be this Thanksgiving,

Today's POD:  A walleye supper does wonders for one's general disposition!

What's not to like ... batter-dipped walleye chunks, mashed potatoes, few insects, nice sunny day, might have even topped it off with an adult beverage.

I wonder if that was the day I provided the walleye for dinner.  I do remember on one of those days, when we are all trolling around the islands south of #150, that I caught a walleye and paddled over to ask "Is this one TOO BIG!"  Smiley

Today's POD brought back memories of when I WAS Wally13 and 2 out of 3 of my paddling companions were like Jimbo, except they had NO redeeming paddling qualities.  Huh Sad Cry

ST,

Well, if the truth be known, the REAL reason Wally13 got out of the canoe was to take a leak.

Hmmm... maybe that was YOUR real reason, too.  I know how you work so hard to stay hydrated.

Hey, what do you think of my Size 13 Caney Fork's?

As you can see into today’s POD Jimbo’s Souris River canoe was loaded up to the Max. And Jimbo was looking rather dapper in his Caney Forks.

On our trip to LLC this past summer we had a great selection of campsites to choose from. We needed campsites with some shade as it was in the 90’s, bluebird sunny and very little wind on most days.

All in all a great trip !

In today's POD, DD leads the way as we are headed for Snow Bay, proceeding west, approaching the NW corner of LLC, above Snow Bay.

During my 2nd trip, a couple weeks later, we camped not far from this spot.  A newbie buddy that my son brought along caught a very fine walleye on a reef between the islands.  Fishing conditions had improved for that 2nd trip (mid-July), the heat wave having mostly passed along with the "nymph hatch" which fish had been gorging on (more so than on our baits) during the first trip with DD & Wally13.

Getting outside for so many weeks during the Covid Spring & Summer was a real blessing.  The fishing might not have been so great during that first trip but we kept our cool by swimming at beaches near our camp.  For some strange reason, we found ourselves singing or humming "Oh, Canada!" most of the time.  Oh, and our compass always seemed to have been left in camp....

I may know that location.  Also heading west, I noticed a father-son fishing off the west end of that island to your north.  Wondering if you took the "shortcut" that leads into a really narrow and shallow creek that then drops you into Snow Bay or did you paddle a bit further west and then hook south into the western side of the bay?
